Annapolis, MD – Today, Senator Roger Manno testified before the Maryland Transportation Authority’s (MDTA) Board of Directors to continue his advocacy to improve the agency’s customer service and predatory video toll penalties.
The Montgomery County senator recently authored legislation to address the exorbitant penalties, which can amount to an initial $50 penalty on a $.50 toll. “I have hard working, law-abiding constituents who are in toll bankruptcies and collections because of broken transponders, incorrect mailing addresses in the system, credit cards being declined because of fraud alerts, and atrocious customer service,” stated Roger. “It’s not fair, and I gave my folks my word that I would do all that I could to fix it. That’s why I’m here today.”
As of this date, there are some 340,000 Marylanders in some form of MDTA collections.
