Ocean City, Maryland – In October, State Delegate Roger Manno was honored by the Washington D.C. Building and Construction Trades Council (AFL-CIO) as "Legislator of the Year". Manno’s work on behalf of the Council and 17 affiliated unions includes: introducing legislation to advance “apprenticeship” programs (sent to Summer Study); authoring the 2008 Prevailing Wage bill (sponsored by Del. Aisha Braveboy); and enduring support of legislation to crack down on the "misclassification" of workers. Del. Braveboy was also honored.

“I am extremely honored that you would recognize me today," stated Manno, while addressing a crowd of dozens of union leaders in Ocean City. "But the greatest personal honor for me is to be associated among the leadership of this Union and the tens of thousands of workers that you represent. It is truly your work that is deserving of our praise and recognition -- because you work hard each and every day building our communities, and you give extraordinary opportunities to young people to learn a trade, build a career, and become part of something bigger then themselves. Thank you for your solidarity and for your leadership. I am at your service.”
Manno was elected to the Maryland General Assembly in 2006 to represent the 110,000 residents of the 19th Legislative District.
