Annapolis, MD – Tonight, both the House and the Senate passed Senator Roger Manno’s Senate Bill 232 – Education – Pregnant and Parenting Students – Attendance Policy – a key legislative priority of NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland.
“Young women who are pregnant or parenting often struggle in school due to lack of support from the school district,” stated Roger. “These students need excused absences for medical appointments or to care for their children, and they need resources to make up the schoolwork missed during that time. It has been a difficult situation, but I partnered with NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland and activists across the state to create an attendance policy in schools for pregnant and parenting students for their medical and legal appointments.
